Brazilian Butt Lift

The Brazilian butt lift is a type of butt augmentation procedure that results in youthful, perky buttocks with a more sensual body profile. The doctor removes fat from selected areas, purifies the fat, and re-injects the selected donors fat cells into your buttocks, resulting in a more attractive and sensuous appearance. The advantage of Brazilian buttock lift over buttock augmentation with an implant is that the fat is your own natural tissue.

Patients that do not have excess redundant skin in the gluteal area, or are simply too thin for liposuction and Brazilian fat transfer, can enhance their buttock with gluteal implants. The doctor will examine you on your consultation date and will recommend the most appropriate type of buttock augmentation for you.

Procedure Description

  • Procedure may be performed under local, conscious sedation, or general anesthesia
  • Small incision is made along natural skin folds at the donor sites e.g. abdomen or waist
  • Tumescent fluid is placed in the donor fatty area that will be subsequently used for fat transfer (Tumescent solution provides anesthesia and limits the blood loss)
  • Fat is then suctioned via the suction cannula
  • Incision sites in the donor sites may be closed with sutures or left open to drain
  • Small incision is made along natural skin folds of the buttock
  • Fat is transferred to the buttock.
  • Incision sites are then closed with sutures.

Recovery

  • Patients are encouraged to walk every 2 hours the first two nights
  • There might be some initial blood tinged drainage, swelling and bruising
  • Swelling and numbness will subside anywhere between a few weeks to a few months
  • Initially the buttock appears larger; however, some of the transplanted fat cells won't survive and the buttock will eventually shrink to its actual size in a few months
  • Patients are asked to lye on their stomach rather than on their back for the first several weeks
  • Sutures are removed post-op day 7
  • Patient should avoid vigorous exercise or heavy lifting for 2-4 weeks
