Fraxel Restore/Repair Procedure

• Skin is cleansed
• Local topical numbing cream is applied
• Some patients are given local blocks
• Laser is used to ablate damaged skin layers

Fraxel Restore Laser Recovery

• Patients will experience several days of swelling and redness
• You may wash your face with soap and water
• Patients should sleep upright on several pillows
• Sun block every 2 hours in outside for the first few weeks and daily then after for six months
• Patients are recommended to wear a large summer hat to cover their face from the sun
• Some patients are started on bleaching creams prior to laser and are asked to continue after laser to prevent hyperpigmentation
• Valcyclovir/Acyclovir used be started 2 days prior to laser in patients with
• Do not pick your skin or peel off scabs
• Avoid contact, bumping the treated areas
• Avoid Retin-A or alpha or b-hydroxy products
• Do not use exfoliants or abrasives when cleaning the skin
• Do not use any heated styling tools or blow dryers, or curling irons, flat irons, rollers
• You may not apply make-up until Dr. Gohar has given approval

Fraxel Repair Laser Recovery

• Patients may experience several days of swelling, and bruising, along with several weeks of redness
• You may wash your face with soap and water
• Patients should sleep upright on several pillows
• Patients should apply vinegar soaks and aquaphor every 2 hours
• Patients are recommended to wear a large summer hat to cover their face from the sun
• Patients will be instructed to wear sun block once surface layer of skin heals and sun block should be continued for six months
• Some patients are started on bleaching creams prior to laser and are asked to continue after laser to prevent hyperpigmentation
• Valcyclovir/Acyclovir used be started 2 days prior to laser in patients with cold sores and continued for several days after the treatment
• Patients will be given oral antibiotics
• Do not pick your skin or peel off scabs
