Microdermabrasion 

Microdermabrasion is a simple yet highly effective and truly powerful anti-aging treatment for skin. Microdermabrasion softens fine lines and wrinkles, smooth's roughly textured skin, reduces the appearance of scars, shrinks pore size, and reduces age spots.

Microdermabrasion removes a layer of dead skin cells from the face, chest, and hands, and allows skin care products to get deeper into the skin, building collagen and thus creating a youthful look.

Microdermabrasion requires an expensive machine that uses original crystal microdermabrasion technology or diamond-tip microdermabrasion, which is a more recent method. Both remove the top layer of dead skin cells.

The original microdermabrasion technology uses a wand that sprays and vacuums up corundum (aluminum oxide crystals), the second hardest mineral in the world, after diamonds. Crystal microdermabrasion is also common. Other crystals like salt and baking soda are also used but are not that common.

Diamond-tip microdermabrasion is most popular today. It gives great results with less discomfort and it lacks crystal residue at the end of each treatment. Yet, some women prefer the aggressive feel of crystal microdermabrasion machines because they feel something happening to their face.
