Laser Hair Removal

Laser hair removal reduces undesired hair from different areas of the body in both men and women without damaging surrounding tissue.

Hair follicles with its melanin pigment can be successfully targeted with the proper wavelength of laser light energy. Once laser energy is absorbed, the damaged hair follicle can no longer produce hair. Laser hair removal is a non-invasive treatment with minimum downtime (typically minimal redness and swelling).

Treatments are usually spread typically 6 weeks apart depending on the treatment area. On average 8-12 treatments are recommended.

Before your laser hair removal treatment avoid the sun and tanning for 4-6 weeks.

If you have history of herpes or cold sores, prophylactic antiviral therapy is recommended.

Avoid exfoliating treatments, or use of products containing alpha hydroxy, retin-A, or chemical exfoliants at least for 1 week prior to your laser hair removal treatment.

Post treatment your skin feels warm and appears red like mild sunburn. This redness subsides in a few hours and the hair follicle usually sheds within a few weeks of treatment. Avoid sun exposure to prevent hyper or hypo-pigmentation of the treated area. Additionally avoid saunas, steam rooms, hot showers or Jacuzzis for 48 hours post treatment.
